We empower youths, women and vulnerable children to attain a developed and sustainable life.

MAYE is a community based organization was founded on 28th November 2008 by a group of youths under charismatic leadership of Sir Nicholas Songora Odoll whose aim was to transform their lives and that of fellow youths on Behavior Change Communication (BCC) and HIV/AIDS through performing/ theatre arts. It is managed through a Management Board who provides technical guidance to a pool of volunteers. Currently the membership of Maye consists of 8 staffs and 5 volunteers.

The foundation of MAYE

The Name

The name Manyatta refers to a traditional house belonging to the Maasai tribe of Kenya. The Maasai community is well known for maintaining their rich culture and traditions. Therefore, Manyatta Youth Entertainment (CBO) famously known as MAYE tends to promote the rich culture of different communities in Kenya hence adoption of the name and the motto "Your Culture Our Culture".

  • Create linkages and alliances with other relevant organizations and partners
  • Facilitate capacity enhancement and participation of youths in Behavior Change Communication and HIV and AIDS
  • Trigger community dialogue on Devolution, gender, environmental and health issues through performing arts
  • Catalyzing youth talent development and restoration of cultural values
  • Lobby and Advocate for children rights in and out of school

Strategic Objectives and Activities

  1. To enhance Behavior Change Communication (BCC) among youths in and out of school through performing arts.
  2. Contribute to environmental conservation through the promotion of sustainable environmental practices i.e. improved hygiene and sanitation
  3. To advocate for an HIV Free generation by:
    • Empowering youths with hands on life skills necessary for survival in the community
    • Educating the community especially young men and women on family planning and consistence use of condoms
    • Empowering young women and teen mothers on life skills to enable them to be independent and self-reliant
  4. To Promote peaceful co-existence in the community before, during and after elections
  5. To advocate for reduction of child rights of violation and Gender Based Violence (GBV) incidences.
  6. To promote culture and nurture talents among the youth.
